Having successfully delivered sports programmes and inspired over 4 million Kiwi kids since 2007, Kelly Sports are excited to offer your school our Kī o Rahi programme. Actively learn Pūrākau o Kī o Rahi by playing the tākaro and connecting to whakapapa a rohe.

Kī o Rahi is a traditional Māori game based on a Pūrākau or legend of Rahitutakahina and the rescue of his wife Tiarakurapakewai. The legend predates European arrival in New Zealand (pre-1870s) and the game itself has Māori tikanga, the Māori culture. For Kelly Sports, we love bringing it into schools.

Ki o Rahi Communities

Ellerslie School staff were fortunate enough to get some professional development from Kelly Sports. They came in taught us the steps on how to teach Kī o Rahi and the importance of different language and the parts of the game. So after the PD, I feel more confident to be able to teach these to the kids in the years to come.
